The Sicangu Lakota Youth Center (SLYC) provides culture, leadership development, and career related learning, suicide prevention and other worthwhile opportunities with an emphasis on making them available to all transitioning middle and high school youth.
The mission of the Sicangu Lakota Youth Center (SLYC) is to provide a safe and positive atmosphere for young people. Youth attending the SLYC will have the power and resources to realize whatever dreams or goals that they may set for themselves.
Todd County, home of the Rosebud Reservation, is the fifth poorest country in the United States based on per capita income. The Harvard School of Public Health estimates the life expectancy on the reservation for Native males to be 58 years, on par with that of Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.
