The unit takes 3 AAA batteries that are included and will run the flashlight or lantern for over 80 continuous hours. The flashlight/lantern has a simple twist to "ON" or "OFF". To use the lantern slide the head of the flashlight in the opposite direction while firmly holding the base in place . When changing the batteries you will need to line up the battery cartridge so it slides easily into the flashlight/lantern. The flashlight/ lantern measures in at 4.4 inches closed (5 inches open) with a 1 inch diameter.
