The purpose of this letter is to request your assistance. We are not asking for any monetary amount, but we are looking to obtain book bags, notebooks, snacks, etc. anything that would be instrumental in making this day a success and their time at school as stress free as possible. On Saturday, August 20th, 2022 we will be hosting a grab and go back to school event. Our target number is approximately 350 children and youth. We are very limited in funds and are in dire need of assistance. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to set up an information table or for further information. Any assistance that your organization may be able to provide will be a blessing to the residents of our development.^~^Carey Gardens Resident Association is a group of dedicated volunteer residents that aims to fill the lack in what our residents and community face on a daily basis. We believe that it takes a community to raise a child and we are firm believers that we must help our neighbors in time of need. We try to make their everyday quality of life a better and bearable one. During this ongoing pandemic we have joined forces with many entities to provide PPE’s, food, water during this time of food insecurities. We are located in the west end of Coney Island, which is a neighborhood that has many issues such as a rise in violence and drugs. 10 years later after Hurricane Sandy damaged our neighborhood we are still under construction which gives our children minimal spaces to enjoy the outdoor area of the development. The digging of the construction work has added to the health issues of the people of this community, and many of our children come from dysfunctional homes as well.
