Silly Sock Saturdays is a nonprofit that was founded and is run by a local teenager. The mission is to reach out to children that are in local hospitals and give them a reason to smile and make their stay there a little less scary. Zachary Kirkland started this corporation in 2017 and has made deliveries every month since then. The donations go to children ages 3-18, broken down into age groups. He donates a pair of “silly designed socks” along with coloring books, comfort items and small toys or games.^~^Our nonprofit makes monthly donations to children in the local hospitals. We donate gift bags with silly designed socks; hence the name, along with coloring books, crayons, toys, crafts or small games and puzzles. We donate to children between the ages of 3 and 18 and try to make each gift personal by breaking them down into age groups as well. The hope is that the gift will make the children happy and hopefully distract them while they're going through a scary time in their lives. This nonprofit was started in 2017 while the founder was just in middle school and has been able to continue for over 5 years now.
