DollarDays' Jeff Dorsey Nominated for CFO of the Year!

By: Brittany Engelmann-- 2016-11-18 3:13 pm --

The CFO of the Year Awards presented by FEI Arizona took place on Thursday, November 17, 2016 to recognize financial professionals in three business sectors: public, private and nonprofit. DollarDays is proud of its CFO Jeff Dorsey, as he was a finalist for this prestigious award. We sat down with Jeff to discuss his experience and learn more about what this nomination meant to him.

When asked what the most exciting part of being nominated was, Jeff responded first that it was an honor to be included in such an impressive group of respected professionals. He enjoyed telling the DollarDays story to these people - where DollarDays has been and where it is headed. Jeff went on to explain that 2016 is a great time to be nominated for this award, since it comes at the end of the company's best year. With more customers than ever before, DollarDays has been able to invest back into the business in a number of ways, including expanding the team. Jeff expressed that 2017 is going to be even better for DollarDays and this award is not a sign of things that have already happened, but of the great things that are yet to come.

We asked Jeff what the biggest challenge is in his role.

"In a small company you tend to wear many hats. As the head of HR, I have worked hard to improve talent and change company culture. That required making some tough decisions, but by being as open and transparent as possible with our employees, they understand these decisions and feel like they have a hand in growing our company."

Jeff went on to say that by wearing these many hats he's given a chance to do so many different things, which keeps his day exciting. He is able to work with Sales on strategy, head up Human Resources, work with IT to improve the website's experience, and assist Marketing with finding ways to reach new customers. He embraces that approach and looks to the company's future happily.

Jeff on the greatest reward:

"The opportunity to interact with every part of the business on a daily basis. I get great enjoyment out of interacting with sales, operations, marketing and merchandising to drive the growth of our business. It makes every day a new and exciting challenge."
