Top Five Most Interesting, Easy Halloween Night Recipes

By: Joshua Unseth-- 2010-10-12 3:00 am --

Who is to say that the fun and excitement of Halloween should be limited to parties and Trick or Treating? With the following top five Halloween night recipes, you can create a spooky experience at dinner that the whole family will enjoy. Best of all, these recipes are very easy to prepare, so feel free to let the kids join in on the fun.

Mummy Hot Dogs
Mummy hot dogs are a breeze to prepare, deliciously simple, and fun to eat. First, unroll a can of refrigerated bread stick dough from your favorite brand. Wrap strips of the dough around each hot dog one at a time (depending on the size of the hot dog, you will need between one and three strips per mummy). Leave a small gap towards the top of the hot dog for the mummy's 'face' to peek out, and then complete your mummification. Bake the hot dogs in a 350 degree oven for eighteen to twenty minutes, or until the mummy's encasement is golden brown. Decorate the mummies' faces with ketchup and mustard.

Creepy Carrot Fingers
Invite your family to snack on a witch's fingers with these delicious and healthy snacks. Simply spread softened cream cheese on one end of some baby carrots, and top with sliced almonds to form fingernails. Place five fingers, nail side up, in individual bowls of vegetable dip to give the appearance of a hand reaching up out of the bowl.

Skeleton Bones
A skeleton has been sacrificed for your family's Halloween side dish! This recipe is incredibly simple. Take a roll of refrigerated biscuit dough, shape the pieces into bone shapes, and bake as directed. Alternatively, you could shape the dough into creepy spiders or fearsome ghosts.

Monster Eyes Hot Cocoa
As august weather settles in, your family will appreciate a toasty cup of hot cocoa to warm their bellies. However, this delicious treat is made even more enjoyable with the addition of ghoulish eyeballs floating around in the mugs. For each cup of hot cocoa, take two mini marshmallows and two dark chocolate chips. Press one chocolate chip, pointed side first, into each marshmallow, and place two eyeballs in each hot cocoa cup.

Jack o' Lantern Cupcakes

Finish off your eerie Halloween meal with a classic, tasty holiday dessert. Simply prepare a batch of cupcakes, or purchase a dozen at the store. Spread each cupcake with orange icing and form the Jack o' Lantern faces using candies and sprinkles. Kids will love preparing and eating this spirited dessert.
